The education of children who are socially, cognitively, or physically different from the average to the point where they require adjustments to customary school procedures is known as special education, sometimes known as special needs education. Children with intellectual, hearing, vision, speech, or learning disabilities as well as those with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive impairments, as well as gifted students with advanced academic skills, and youngsters with orthopedic or neurological conditions, are all served by special education.
